Most common disorders of the elbow include tennis elbow and golfers elbow. These are painful conditions of the elbow that most of the time can be treated with conservative measures that include physical therapy, modification of activities, anti-inflammatory medicines, braces and cortisone shots. Occasionally surgery is necessary as a last resort to resolve these ailments. Dr. Pournaras can help resolve these issues and get you back to the activities that you enjoy!
Shoulder disorders commonly include Rotator cuff tendonitis and rotator cuff tears. Rotator cuff tendonitis can usually be treated with conservative measures such as rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medicines and cortisone shots. Rotator cuff tears usually are diagnosed by MRI scans. Rotator cuff tears can also be treated conservatively but more often surgery is required. Rotator cuff tears can often be treated by arthroscopic surgery that is usually less painful than traditional open surgery and often allows an easier recovery. Dr. Pournaras will be happy to discuss these treatment options with you and help get you back to an active lifestyle.
